The "Manhattan Optimist Club Bulletin" : Vol 2024: #1 10-4-23
VOLUME 2024 OCTOBER 4 NUMBER 1
President Bill Wisdom’s welcome and America the Beautiful sing along (which was rather nice) were followed by the flag salute.
ACHES & PAINS: Be thankful for all your blessings and be kind, you never know what others are dealing with…
PROGRAM: Get to know your President!! Very nice slide show, Bill Wisdom (and twin brother) was born in Rock Island Illinois, moved to Iola Kansas, then to Marysville Kansas took piano lessons, ran cross country/track and they were for some time before moving to Manhattan Kansas. Bill went to MHS and then on to KSU! Bill has a son, two daughters, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson (who was seen several times photo bombing us throughout the slide show). Bill considers himself a Tragic Romantic.Bill took us through many of his adventures, hiking, fishing, biking, and camping. He showed us many beautiful places he’s been, and he loves them all. Bill spends a lot of time in Manitou Colorado enjoying the adventures there. We were then tasked with a quiz about Bill’s presentation – those answering correctly and the fastest were given a treat! Thanks Bill, we know you’ll do a fantastic job!
In looking at the coming year, Bill plans to continue to move forward with the Membership Recruitment as this needs to be a constant push by all of us to try and get some younger members. Continue to help Bruce Bidwell, Jim Franke and Steve Boeckman in Optimist Park maintenance/upkeep. Our bylaws need to be updated as there have been several changes we have not added yet. Bringing back the daily blessing, quote of the day or just good word for the day. There are a few members who will perform this on a rotational basis and Thanks to those who have volunteered. AND Thank you Thad Hall for a great year!
