PROGRAM:   General Membership Meeting

CLUB STUFF/ANNOUNCEMENTS and UPCOMING EVENTS:

Thad Hall, President of The Manhattan Optimist Club
Park Maintenance: (Bruce Bidwell) working on it, always needing volunteers and always a work in progress.
Building a new field: (Bruce Bidwell) working on that as well, located down by the pitching lanes, where the old field was, it will face the opposite direction and is much needed as there are now 12 teams that practice at Optimist Park.  (MOFA -girls, 13U baseball – competitive boys, T-Ball, Club Socials…)
Christmas Tree Lot: (Bruce Bidwell) Trees have been ordered and we’ll be up and running on Thanksgiving!
Grant Applications: (Thad Hall) Applications are due by August 31 and so far, we have 19
City Service Club Sign Project: (Steve Havenstein) The sign will be in place in the new K-18 spot on October 1.
Diversity Committee: (Mike Fincham) We had 2 speakers and we participated in Juneteenth at the City Park
Chili Crawl: (Bill Wisdom) October 14th, there are 12 restaurants and 24 sponsors so far, it’s coming together nicely
Officer & Board Installation: (Bill Wisdom) This will be held during the September 27th meeting
Community Blood Drive: (Doug Jardine) September 18th & 19th
Bewitching in Westloop: (Bill Claman) to be held October 30th
Youth of the Month: (Sharon Fincham) We’ll start up again November 1st
Student of the Month: (Thad Hall) Starts on October 11, and judges are still needed – see Thad for more information
Hoop Holler N Shoot: (Thad Hall) Dates will be announced soon
Marathon Sign-up: (Thad Hall) October 7th,  sign up to help, Club gets $500.00 for helping out
Optimist $1000.00 Scholarship: (Thad Hall) Thru the Foundation
Recruitment Push: (Thad Hall)  $100.00 gift card to the member that brings in the most new members by September 30th.  (Ed Klimek, Clyde Scott, Craig Cox & Jerry Banaka)

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: No member spotlight today
