PROGRAM: Mike Fincham introduced our speaker this morning. “Every once in a while, a chance encounter results in something fun and exciting when you aren’t expecting it. One Saturday morning a while back, Sharon and I and another couple were in Clay Center to look at the many murals that they have around the city. While walking on the sidewalk around the city square, we crossed paths with a young lady. She struck up a conversation with us and asked us what we were up to that morning. We happened to be right in front of the REX Theatre which obviously had been newly renovated. I commented on how cool the theatre looked and she asked us if we’d like to take a tour of the theatre. As it turns out, this young lady was Renee Langvardt, the Manager/Director of the REX Theatre. She unlocked the lobby door, took us inside and showed us around. I thought to myself, this theatre renovation would make a great program for the Optimist Club. Then Renee mentioned that they have programs for the local school kids. Even better!! That is right up our alley and I invited Renee to present to our Optimist members.”
